New Year Sale! // { Pinned Post! Scroll Down for Newer Posts! }

{ THIS POST IS PINNED. PLEASE SCROLL DOWN TO SEE MORE RECENT POSTS. THANKS! }

So I’ve had an amazing couple of weeks! Seattle did my heart some good (which I’ll talk more about later) and now I’m gearing up for an incredible year! Additionally, my birthday is in a couple more weeks and I’m just pretty excited about stuff these days! So excited, in fact, that I decided it was time to spread the cheer!

After Christmas sales are abound and this is no exception! Everyone seems to need a couple months of recovery after the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, myself included, so I thought I’d offer a fantastic chance to have pictures done at an incredible price! I’m not sure when these prices will be this low ever again, so seize the opportunity while it lasts!

Here’s to a wondrous 2010! I already know it’s going to blow 2009 out of the water!

Mirek&Rachel // Ooltewah, TN

I love these two so much, I can’t hardly bare it.

Mirek&Rachel are probably one of my all time favorite couples ever. Mirek is from Prague and has the best accent ever (no, seriously) and Rachel is sweet, gentle, and has the most beautiful spirit. Together, they make one adorable (and might I say ridiculously good looking?) couple. There were little looks they’d give each other throughout the day and those are my favorite.

Who, me?

I personally find it odd when people ask me photography-related questions because my initial reaction is always to say, “Why are you asking me? Isn’t there someone else you can ask that’s like, way smarter about this stuff?”

But I do love when other photographers write Q&A segments on their blogs and not that I have anything mind-blowing to contribute to that pot, but if you have a question, please feel free to ask! If I get enough questions, I might start doing a weekly post about it… I like to think I’m an open book and I’m all for helping fellow photographers reach their goals, so if I can help in any way, I’ll sure try!

And since no post is good without a picture…

It’s supposed to snow again tomorrow and I have a session that can’t be rescheduled since we’ve had to reschedule twice already. Here’s to working in adverse situations and making great photos regardless!

Dave P. // Cleveland, TN

Dave Pemberton. He is quite a character. But not in the extroverted, loud sorta way. He’s really subtle. Throughout our time together, he would say something so matter of fact that I would have to process it for a moment and realize how fantastic it was! Take the following quote that I doubt I’ll ever forget…

“When I die, I want to be cremated and my ashes put into a musket to be used to shoot and kill a bear.”

See? Stuff like that! I absolutely love it. Dave is also an artist and a writer and definitely looked like he stepped off the pages of a Jane Austen novel. Someone on my Facebook page suggested the nickname “Mr. Darcy,” which I liked. Although, while we were taking photos, I did tell Dave that he had that sexy, glowing “Edward Cullen” vampire look which is totally hot right now. And he didn’t seem to mind.

I’ve been itching to rant lately. Like I have so much pent up in my head, I think it’s what keeps me up late at night. So many ideas, thoughts, and tasks… I don’t even really know where to begin.

I counted how many weeks we have left in Tennessee. 13. Just 13 weeks until we move back home to Seattle. Wow… So many mixed emotions, all of them good. But still, wow

Also, I’ve been battling with this idea about how I’m presented online and consolidating those ideas with who I really am… Obviously, I like to talk and write but most of my favorite photographers are minimalists when it comes to their work. They show their photos, blow people’s minds, and then do it again. And they don’t have to say a thing. The work speaks for itself. I wish I could do that… But at the same time, I love telling you about the people in my photos. Because the more I take photos of people, the more I love them and come to realize how important everyone is in my life. I think everyone is significant and that’s why I think everyone should have professional pictures taken, regardless of who they are. They exist and for a reason. I dunno… Just something I’m trying to figure out. Do I need to write? Or should I keep it more simple? I really don’t know…

Thoughts?

carly - Thanks, guys! I thought about it some more and even if wanted to, I don't think the writing could ever stop. I'm too much of a storyteller... It's the one thing I can think back to when I was 6 years old that people would tell me about myself. "That Carly... She's quite the storyteller..." So thank you for the reassurance! The stories shall continue! :)February 5, 2010 - 9:04 pm

Morgan Trinker - First: KEEP WRITING. That's a HUGE part of who you are, and who you are is a HUGE part of your business! Second: Wow. The snow in the hair? Love. The field shots? Love. Mr. Darcy? Yes.February 4, 2010 - 8:55 pm

tiffany zajas - I agree with the others. Keep the stories! I love the stories. It's a part of who you are...so, stay true to that. :)February 3, 2010 - 9:17 pm

Cynthia - I swear I am stalking you and I can't help it, because your work does speak for itself and I can't wait to see more of your work. You put up one picture and its a tease, but then your stories and rants are the cherry on top. Keep the stories. KEEP THE STORIES!February 3, 2010 - 7:31 pm

Jennie Myers - I think that you should keep writing! I really enjoy reading your thoughts and about the people in the pictures. Sure your work speaks for itself, but I think it just adds a little something extra.February 3, 2010 - 7:28 pm
