I hated my senior photos. I regret going to a well-known conglomerate studio that charged a hideous amount of money for a very small return. Really? Twelve wallets and a really awkward photo of me leaning against a fake tree for just under $500? Sheesh… Please don’t make the same mistake I did. Seek out photos that you’ll love. If that happens to be photos from me, then I couldn’t be more thrilled! But no matter who you go to, just be sure about what you’re getting.

Haiti Relief | New Prints Now Available!

So earlier this week, I set a goal of raising another $200 for my Haiti efforts. It’s been slow going so far but I haven’t given up. Today, I’ve added new prints to the Limited Edition Prints available for purchase. If just six people purchase an 8×10 for $35, that’ll put me just over that goal. So if you’re one of my Facebook Likers or otherwise, you already know that I’m pretty stoked about this awesome event being held at Paper Source. So I’m getting the word out to all the local Seattle brides that I’ll be attending this event at the one in Bellevue Square because I’m totally nerdy when it comes to paper goods. I love the amazing things that couples are putting together to personalize their weddings and this is a wonderful and affordable way to find inspiration, enjoy the planning process, and save on wedding products. Sorry for the lack of blog posts lately! It’s been a pretty busy month. While George and I continue to adjust being in Seattle on a very permanent basis, life continues to move along at lightning-fast speed! Not to mention, my brother got married this past Saturday and while I was the official photographer, I was still very much involved in all the family festivities that typically precede a wedding day!

I find myself juggling several new projects which all have me very excited! One in particular will be VERY cool, but I can’t share all the details yet. What I can tell you is that Geneva Diane Designs, upcoming stylist/florist here in Seattle, and I are currently working on a conceptual project and what we’ve come up with is rocking my face! Now we just need to find a local Seattle couple, preferably married who still has their wedding attire, to model for us! So if you’d like the chance to wear your wedding dress again and get fun pictures, please send your names and a photo (preferably a picture from your wedding) to info@carlybish.com to apply.

Meanwhile, I’m honing in on the carlybish photography brand, discovering what it means to be a “carlybish bride and groom”, and I’m figuring out how I can push through basic expectations by creating an entirely new experience that clients will cherish forever.

Petter+Heidi are a perfect (and dare I say gorgeous?!) example of what a “carlybish bride and groom” looks like and I’m anxious to share their wedding day with you! As much as I love my wedding couples, I’ll have you know that nothing quite beats a rock star senior photo session! I mean, senior photos are SO MUCH COOLER than what they were a few years ago! I graduated in 2002 and even then, photos came from the City of Lame!

New Year Sale!

So I’ve had an amazing couple of weeks! Seattle did my heart some good (which I’ll talk more about later) and now I’m gearing up for an incredible year! Additionally, my birthday is in a couple more weeks and I’m just pretty excited about stuff these days! So excited, in fact, that I decided it was time to spread the cheer!

After Christmas sales are abound and this is no exception! Everyone seems to need a couple months of recovery after the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, myself included, so I thought I’d offer a fantastic chance to have pictures done at an incredible price! I’m not sure when these prices will be this low ever again, so seize the opportunity while it lasts!

Cure for Boredom // Photo Special!

Yesterday, I got bored. I’ve been editing photos, burning DVDs, designing an album, and washing dishes and I needed something else—something FUN—to do for a while! I mean, I love my work and I rarely tear myself away from whatever needs to get done, but sometimes, it’s a good idea to do something for yourself! Something creative and different than your normal routine!

So I’ve been thinking about Christmas greeting cards. George and I have never made one and I really wanted to send one this year. Especially since we can’t afford gifts for everyone—or anyone, for that matter—so greeting cards are a fun and thrifty way to touch base with everyone you love! Not to mention, it’ll most likely end up on the refrigerator or in a frame and won’t get discarded!

But I was thinking about how I wanted ours to be really good! A great kickoff to a new tradition of fantastic greeting cards we’ll send each year!

So yesterday, I decided to venture out with my camera and tripod. It was raining out, but I didn’t care. I found a few spots and tried some things, but nothing was really working. So I went home. I sat around for a while and then got the itch again and started to wonder what I could do inside. So I thought about setting up an in-home photobooth, which isn’t all that unique. You see it a lot these days! But I decided to give it a whirl and guess what, it was a blast! I don’t care if it’s been done before! We haven’t done it, so we’re going for it this year!

Of course, my enthusiasm didn’t stop there. Honestly, I enjoy taking pictures of other people so much more! Which brings me to my PHOTO SPECIAL!

This is not something I usually do, but I simply couldn’t hog this to myself! So I’ve decided to open our photobooth to the local public here in the Cleveland/Chattanooga area! So if you’re wanting to send a fun picture to family and friends this season, this is a great way to go!
