Mollie + Ryan were my first wedding of 2016, and my first wedding I ever photographed on my birthday. The moment I arrived to Mollie’s hotel room, she leaped up to say, “I have your cake!” Here’s a thing about me and cake… I don’t eat cake. And not because I don’t want to! It’s because I have an autoimmune disease that insists I avoid gluten because reasons. And it’s never really bothered me because honestly, wedding dinners are usually pretty generous in their helpings and I wouldn’t have room for cake anyway! But this was special because Mollie + Ryan had ordered a special gluten free cake just for me. On my birthday. A day that was supposed to be 110% solely about them. It was such an honor getting to spend that day with them, through the ups and downs of Seattle’s
crazy, temperamental, neurotic weather patterns, with it’s monsoons, and the glorious sun breaks. They truly embraced their PNW in January wedding. When they saw the clouds roll in, Molly replied, “Let’s do this!” And we did! And it was awesome.
Embrace the rain, friends. Your makeup, hair, and dress will be just fine. And you’ll look back on your wedding photos fondly, remembering the day you began your marriage as one where nothing could dampen your spirits.
A big thanks is owed to Grace, of Smiling Rose Planning! You totally killed it and I loved working with you. Also gotta give shoutouts to two of my other all-time faves–DJ Darin Hanson, for bringing all the vibes to the dance floor, and Shyn of Pacific Brides, for your overflowing talent for making a bride look and feel her best! Brava, everyone. Brava…
