About the Studio

Believe it or not, my current studio is my third! And the second one I’ve built. After renting a space in downtown Seattle, I decided I was over of the downtown traffic and unreasonable lack of parking, so I designed and built my first backyard studio in 2019.

After we relocated to Woodinville, I was forced to deconstruct my previous studio due to lack of permitting. The good news was I salvaged most of the building material, including the windows and all the lumber, which I used for my newest labor of love and current studio space.

Studio Bish is now 300 square feet of a detached garage unit that my husband and I cut down the middle. On the other side is his workshop and even he’ll admit, it’s no where near as pretty as my side. It’s literally a “his and hers” situation and it worked out perfectly. We were able to reuse the vintage French windows from our original build and we brought back my favorite feature — the clear corrugated roof to bring in as much natural light as humanly possible. Yes, it might get a tad cold in the winter but oh, are the photos totally worth it. Plus, the gas heater helps.

Studio Bish is also available to rent! If you are a photographer or someone in need of a creative space, visit our studio website where you can check the space’s availability and book by the hour! Please remember, when you rent time in the studio, that does not mean you are hiring Carly as the photographer. It only means you are booking time in the studio and you will need to provide your own photographer if you need one. If you’d like to hire Carly and have her take photos inside Studio Bish, she’ll be happy to schedule time with you and make that happen! The studio fee is waived and you would simply pay for Carly’s photography services. Email Carly if you have questions.
